Having dedicated my entire career to public service, I understand the importance of making our government a reliable, responsive resource for everyone.
I pledge to lead with civility, honesty, and respect as both a candidate and (hopefully) your next Councilmember. Our Council needs to work together to problem-solve and build consensus on the issues facing our community. I have a record of building coalitions and I am running to bring that experience to Town Hall.
Our Town government has also been severely understaffed for the past few years. We need to recruit and retain experienced and qualified employees because that’s how we improve the quality, efficiency, and responsiveness of our public services.
Climate change is here today with extreme heat, storms, wildfires, and power outages. We need more resources to stay prepared and support what residents need now.
We have to move away from fossil fuels. We’ll make it easier and more affordable to electrify our homes and buildings, install solar, and convert to electric vehicles.
Nature-based solutions fight climate change, enhance our public health, and improve the quality of life in our community. I strongly support working to create fire-safe communities on a landscape scale.
I believe in making principled, fact-based, and community-centered policy decisions. Let’s be real, few issues rile up our community like the question of whether or not to expand development in Portola Valley. I’m not naïve about how important and fierce this debate is, but I refuse to accept the notion that development is either all good or all bad.
Despite these challenges, I believe we can solve them. The same collaborative spirit that created our Town can also decide its future. On the Council, I will ensure that Portola Valley remains a safe and vibrant place for all to live, play, and work.
